Corporate social responsibility

Our firm is a long-time sponsor of Conservamus vzw/asbl which supports the renovation of the magnificent buildings of the Royal Conservatory, located in the Brussels city centre.  Our sponsorship includes both financial and legal support.  After many years of relentless effort by Conservamus vzw/asbl, the renovation project is now progressing rapidly and completion, much anticipated by the musical community in Belgium and abroad, is hoped for by 2025-26.

& De BANDT is proud of to support WAPA, an association which fights against the recruitment and use of children in armed conflicts and for their reintegration into stronger communities, as well ANEKA, which provides temporary housing and support for homeless women and single mothers in Belgium.

We also leverage our expertise in European and environmental law to support actions aimed at protecting the climate and ecosystems. In that context, we were pleased to represent pro bono and successfully the NGO Blue Marine in its intervention before the European Court of the European Union. This intervention aimed to support the action brought by the NGO Bloom against the European Commission to compel it to review its position regarding the use of fishing techniques that pose a serious threat to marine ecosystems and in particular to the conservation of certain tuna species in the Indian Ocean. In a judgment dated 23 July 2025, the General Court upheld Bloom's action, finding that, by opposing the adoption of new measures aimed at protecting tuna in the Indian Ocean, the Commission had adopted an act liable to adversely affect the achievement of the objectives of the Union’s environmental policy as set out in Article 191 TFEU.
