Jeroen Dewispelaere spoke on Friday 22 October 2021 in Leuven during the presentation of the Capita Selecta Energy Law Yearbook 2020.
At this seminar, several speakers explained the most important developments that have taken place in the field of energy law during the past calendar year.
During his presentation, Jeroen has extensively discussed the Hinkley Point C judgment. In Hinkley Point C, the Court of Justice calls into question the existing analytical framework of the European Commission for the assessment of national aid measures. At the same time, the judgment brings about a far-reaching integration of State aid rules and EU environmental law. The Hinkley Point C judgment thus creates new opportunities to make the investments necessary to achieve Europe's climate and energy goals, to further decarbonise the economy and to transform the European Union into a more just and prosperous society.
