Ingrid Arckens focuses on intellectual property rights and ICT law, with a special interest in copyright.
Her broad practice and experience cover the drafting and negotiating of licence agreements, software agreements, and agreements on the transfer of technology, as well as proactive consultancy in the area of research and development. She advises software customers and providers, universities and their spin-offs, as well as fashion designers and artists.
Ingrid has published several contributions relating to intellectual property rights and ICT law. She was also co-author of International Computer Law (Matthew Bender, New York City).
She studied law in Kortrijk and Leuven (1979-1984), and conducted scientific research at the University of California, Los Angeles (1985), on law and technology and intellectual property rights. She subsequently obtained an LL.M. at New York University (1986).
Ingrid started her career as an attorney with De Bandt, Van Hecke & Lagae in Brussels, and worked as a legal counsel with Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Johnson & Johnson company. In 1990, she re-joined the bar as an attorney and in 2009 she became an attorney at & DE BANDT. In 2014 she left the bar and became counsel at & DE BANDT.
